HE Learning Access Plan Builder

Build a Higher Education Learning Access Plan, then email it to the student as a PDF. Tick the impacts and adjustments that apply: the student's name fills in automatically and every entry can be edited. No student information is kept here. To come back to a plan, open the PDF you saved.

Or drag and drop a LAP PDF here: a plan saved from this builder, or an older pre-builder LAP.

1Student information

Enter the name the student wants used, first name only. It fills in across the whole plan.

2Impacts

Tick each way the student's study is affected. Describe the effect on study, not the condition. You can edit any entry after ticking it.

3Adjustments to the academic program

To be put in place by the School. Tick what applies, then edit the wording if needed.

4Exams

5Moodle and in-class tests

6Placement

These lines are always included when placement applies: it's the student's responsibility to tell the placement team about changes (such as a change of address), and to upload the plan to InPlace and email the placement team.

Placement adjustments

Picking an adjustment fills in the wording with the student's name. Edit it to fit. Anything in square brackets needs filling in or deleting.

Placement points to discuss

Read each point to the student and tick it once you've discussed it. They print on the plan. The plan can't be emailed to the student until every point is ticked.

    7Other provisions

    8Referrals

Tick any service you've talked about with the student. Ticked services appear in the plan with how to book. Services that aren't ticked don't appear. Only tick "Send the final plan to this service" once the student has agreed to that.

Accessibility Services refers directly. Conversion takes time and specialist resources, so refer only when the student can't use standard materials, even with the usual tools. A converted version that would be easier or nicer to have isn't enough on its own.

    9Privacy and agreement

Go through this with the student before the plan is emailed. Emailing stays locked until every point is ticked and the agreement is recorded.

Record the conversation in the student's case notes as usual.

      Signatures

The Accessibility Officer's saved signature is applied automatically. Signatures only appear on the final plan. If the plan changes after it's signed, it needs applying again.

      10Check and send

        To the student

Generate the LAP and the welcome letter. Import the letter into Point & Click's Compose Secure Message body, then attach the LAP, then send.

        To support services

The final plan to referral services the student agreed to share it with.

        PDF only

For the student's record, or to send another way.

        Privacy: nothing is saved here

Student information stays in this open page only. It's never stored in the browser or sent anywhere, and refreshing or closing the page clears it. The plan travels inside the PDF you save, so you can reopen it later with "Open or import a PDF". The only things this page remembers are the program and officer lists.
